Personal Statement
I am currently a captain on my team where I hope to be a strong asset in the team’s pursuit of a conference championship. My freshman and sophomore years were at St. Johns College High School where I was a captain and finished up ranking in the top 10 (District of Columbia) in the 200, 300 and 400. I did PR during the indoor season in the 200 (22.65) and 400 (51.36) as well as finishing the outdoor season off with All-Conference honors and a team Conference Championship.
As a freshman, I felt like the highlight of my career was competing at New Balance Nationals in the 400m where I finished 5th overall. However, I feel that I grew most as an athlete the summer leading into my junior year when I was not able to compete at the national level due to being chosen as the alternate for our relay, a very difficult and respected decision made by my coach. The experience helped me grow as a teammate and athlete allowing me to re-focus my own efforts on building a more solid base and become stronger for the upcoming season.
As a student, I am working towards becoming a part of our Arts Academy and continue to elevate my overall GPA. I currently have a 3.32 GPA and plan on taking my first SAT in June, 2017. Though I don’t know exactly what field of study I would like to pursue, my academic strengths are Math, Science and Art.
Thank You
