I have always enjoyed running fast and competing. When I was 10 years old I ran my first race for charity. I won that race leaving the competition behind me in 90+ degree weather. I loved it ! I enjoy competition and work hard at improving my skills every day. I find the hurdles to be a unique and rewarding event to enhance my overall athletic ability. I embrace the challenge of combining speed and technique to jump effortlessly.
Even in other sports, baseball, soccer, I've always been known for my speed. I set by example regardless of the sport I play. I am honest, trustworthy and dedicated. I am a positive role model for my teammates. I always bring an optimistic attitude to the track just as I do in life. I am always there to help my teammates whether it is to cheer them on when they are winning or to encourage them when they are not and need that extra boost in confidence to have them run just a little faster.
I always welcome the challenge of pushing my self outside of my comfort zone. I am always willing to try new events to push my athleticism. I would volunteer to and try new events for the team regardless of my experience in that particular event. because I know it is about bringing points to help my team win.
I like to apply the lessons of track and field to the lessons in life. When attacking the hurdles, I am not just a hurdler but I am an athlete. I am more than capable of taking on any event that is offered to me.
My hope for my junior year is to beat Hopkinton High School's 45 meter hurdle record (which is currently 5.9. ) and beat my own record in Senior Year. I fully expect to push myself to continue to exceed the expectations of my coaches and most importantly. myself. I will bring this same winning attitude and dedication to your college track team.
