Personal Statement
Hi! I'm Wesley. I am a junior at North Muskegon High school and have been running track and cross country since eighth grade. That's when I fell in love with running and the spirit of competition. I have always been striving to improve my times and go faster, and that brought me from a 12:29 3200 meter time in eighth grade to 10:20 during my sophomore year. I have been training year round since my freshman year and have taken up varsity swimming in the winter to further bolster my cardiovascular strength. I had a great sophomore season, going to several high level invitational meets and attending the state finals. And I can't wait to go faster this season.
I also work hard in the classroom. I have a 3.85 GPA and am earning all A's this semester. In my junior year I received a 30 on the ACT composite score. I have earned Academic All-Conference honors for every season I have played so far and am on our schools National Honors Society. I am also a leader and currently a Life Scout working to obtain the honor of Eagle Scout for the Boy Scouts of America.
I would love to major in Aerospace Engineering and go as high as I can with my education, perhaps even earning a doctorate. I would love to go to a school that has a competitive and fun running program where I can have fun and work hard for a great sport and future.
