Personal Statement

I love track. I have written school papers on high jumping. I watch the summer Olympics as if it was ending next year. The thrill of the adrenaline rush after a race or a jump is an addictive (natural and legal) high that you just can't get anywhere else. Watching old hurdle races makes my brain think that I am actually racing! I love track.

My future goal is to one day be a head coach of a track team but right now it is to break my school's record for high jump. The bar is set at 6'5.

If I were on your team, I would bring a few things to the table. Naturally, Minnesotans have a high work ethic. I come from a family that consists of a single mom raising twins on a teacher salary. My mom can't buy everything so I work three jobs while my sister works two. Another aspect I would bring to the table would be leadership by example. I'm not perfect in any way but being this tall, everyone recognizes me in my small town. Every activity I participate in, those other towns know who I am. All eyes are watching me so if I do something I'm not supposed to do, it can easily be spread and the word would get back to my mom. She isn't strict, but can be stern. The worst is, "I'm disappointed in you". Lastly, an aspect I'd bring would be good natured competitive drive. I said earlier that I am a twin. We always compete against each other or team up against everyone else. We have this running joke of "twin telepathy" that is just to mess with everyone's heads. We will compete in academics, strategy games, sports, money, you name it. All of this is lighthearted competition. We want to do better, we want to be better, but in the end, we want each other to succeed. In my head, that is how a team should be.

I have other things that I bring to the table but it isn't any fun if I spill my life story here. Call me up, text me, email me, let's get in touch! I got one more season to run. I'll keep you updated.

Thank you!
