Personal Statement
I started running in the 7th grade as a means of trying a new sport. What I ended up finding was a new passion. Running is something I think about every day and I am always setting new goals. When I think about my future college plans, running on a college level track/cross country team is something I am excited to do. I am looking forward to being part of a college team with like minded team mates all training to excel at our sport.
I am determined to keep improving and I don't let mistakes get in my way. I am very coachable and I am not afraid of training hard and putting on the miles. I try to help my team mates when I can. Sometimes that involves physical skills and sometimes it involves teaching younger runners mental training. I take an active leadership role on my high school teams. I know leadership is also important off the track and I use those leadership skills in my academic life also.
I am involved in my church youth group and have been on several mission trips. I enjoy being involved in the community and finding ways to help people live better lives.
