After playing many sports from age 6 to junior high, I was given the chance to try pole vaulting. By the end of my 8th grade year I was in love with the sport. I was the first 8th grader from my school to make it to the North State Championship. My Freshman year I didn't do so well, and got to see my other team mates go to State. Failing to make it to State with the rest of my team made me want it more, and pushed me to work harder and get higher. My Sophomore year I was number one seed in the state going into the State Championships. I placed second against some great vaulters. Going in as number one and leaving number two made me work even harder to prepare for the next season. Finally, as a Junior, I returned to the State Championship as the highest seed in the state. All of the hard work payed off, I won gold and set a new state record for the 4A league. I have been blessed with great teammates, a great coach, and very supportive parents that have pushed me to be the best that I can be.
Academically, I have usually found school to be pretty easy. I've always liked to draw and use computers, so decided to take Drafting and Design classes at Votech. I recently competed in Skills USA with Computer Aided Drafting and Design. Architectural engineering has been what I've wanted to do since middle school. My goals for the rest of high school are to bring my GPA up, bring my ACT score up 3-5 points and to hit at least 16ft vaulting. I am looking for a program that will challenge me academically and athletically. I believe I have what it takes to compete at a collegiate level, and as a two time MVP winner would make a great addition to any team that will give me a chance.
