Personal Statement

I am Peyton Davis from Missouri, a Senior at Centralia High School. My goal is to participate in track and field in college while obtaining my degree. I have actively participated in sports my entire life, and never had a lack of passion for becoming the strongest I can be in any of them. Track has been one of my main priorities ever since I began in the summer of 2012.

As a freshman during the 2016 track season, I ran in the 4x400m relay, 800m, 4x800m relay, and 110m hurdles. In field events, I long jumped and high jumped and threw discus, shot put, and javelin. I advanced to the Missouri state track meet and placed 7th, as an All-State Javelin thrower. My sophomore season I was able to qualify for the state meet in 4 events: high jump, javelin, 300M hurdles and the 4x800 relay. I was All-State in high jump, javelin and the 4x800 relay. I have also participated with Blue Thunder Track Club in Columbia, Missouri since 2012. I am a 14 time AAU or USATF All-American and 3 time National Champion in various events. I won the National Championship at the 2017 and 2018 USATF Junior Olympics in the decathlon.

My junior year outdoor season also went well with PRs in 110 hurdles at 15.44, 300 hurdles 39.55,  HJ 6'6", SP 43'3", LJ 23'1", PV 3.95m, 400m 51.05, discus 125'4" and javelin 186'11". I earned 2 medals at the 2018 KU Relays in javelin and HJ, and medaled at the MO Class 3 State Championship meet in 4 events. 1st in javelin with 186'11" which is a new Class 3 state record, 2nd in HJ, 3rd in LJ, and 4th in 300 hurdles.

I also enjoy basketball, in which I have been a varsity player my freshman, sophomore, and junior years. My junior year I earned All Conference HM.  I have played on multiple competitive basketball teams as well over the last 4 years.

As a student, I always make it a goal to earn the best grades possible. My GPA after completing my junior year is a 4.11. My ACT score is a 31. I am one of the top students in my school for the class of 2019 and am taking several dual credit classes to better prepare myself for college. I enjoy mathematics and am involved in many computer and multimedia classes. I am a member of FBLA, FCA, and student council. In 2017 I advanced to the FBLA National Leadership Conference in Anaheim, CA and placed 9th in Digital Video Production. I keep school and academics as my number one priority to always achieve the best of my abilities.

My goals for the rest of high school are to keep improving myself. I hope to gain strength, performance, and consistency. My first decathlon of 2018 was at the Great Southwest Classic in NM and earned 2nd place with 6877 points. I then participated in USATF Jr Nationals in Bloomington, IN where I finished 3rd with 6826 points, and finished my summer competitions at USATF JOs in NC where I won the 17-18 year old decathlon with 6918 points. My senior year I hope to continue to show much improvement as I prepare myself to compete at the collegiate level.
