Personal Statement
Throughout my youth I have been involved with various local athletic programs such as: baseball, basketball, hockey, football, soccer, wrestling, track, and swimming. I felt that I excelled more so at football, wrestling, and track, than the others so I pursued those disciplines into high school. I’ve attended wrestling camps at Luther College, and Augsburg College, and have attended football camps at Winona State University.
Athletics have played a large roll in my life. However, I do have a life outside athletics. I am a member of the Winona Senior High School Concert and Marching bands. Going into my Junior year of high school I applied for and was selected as a Drum Major for the Winona High School Marching Band; and from my understanding the youngest in the school’s history.
I am active in my church youth group, and have gone on youth mission trips to Chicago, Illinois; Beckley, West Virginia; and Minneapolis, Minnesota. I will be going to Costa Rica in the summer of 2015. Over the past several years I have assisted with the Morrie Miller Foundation fundraising events which supports various local elementary, middle school, and high school athletic programs. I was nominated by one of my teachers and was selected as a “Link Leader” for the 2014-2015 school year, which are Juniors and Seniors helping incoming Freshmen to acclimate to life at Winona Senior High School. This past summer I was an assistant coach at the Winona YMCA track camp and became a certified life guard.
In my free time, I enjoy getting together with friends to go biking, play frisbee golf, boating, fishing, swimming in the local swimming pool or one of several water filled sand pits, hiking the local bluffs, or just hanging out to play video games and watch movies.
I work part time at the Winona YMCA with the early childhood “Child Watch” program and school age childcare program.
I hope my future holds a career in the fields of science and math or possibly teach and coach at the high school of college level.
