Personal Statement
I have been running since I was 8 years old and have aspired to run at the collegiate level ever since. I am very young for my grade (I am a Senior but will not be 18 until August), so know I have not hit my peak and my best times are yet to come. I'll be ready to take my running commitment to the next level come May 2018 when I graduate. I completed my Junior year with a 3.2 GPA. I took the ACT Test in December and got a 23 on it and have had the the score officially sent to the NCAA Eligibility Center.
Cross Country season was a disappointment since I did not make it to state, however, I do run in the toughest district in Missouri where the competition is the most challenging. As Captain of the Cross Country Team, I led our team during winter running and am looking forward to the track season.
I have posted 3 videos. The video from April 2, 2016 is of the Charlie Beck Invitational in St. Louis. It was a memorable day because it was cold, 40 degrees and steady 35mph winds with 50 mph gusts which can be heard in the video. The straightaways were headed right into swirling, strong head winds. Experience in running outside in bad weather helped me win that race. The second video was taken on April 15, 2017, where I am running the 800m which usually is not my forte, but I got a PR of 2:11 in that so I figured I would post that video. The other video is of me running on my summer club team, the St. Charles Cyclones where I ran the 1500m on a 93 degree, very hot and humid day on June 3, 2017. I also ran a lot of 4x8 relays during track season.
I train hard year-round. When it is not Track or Cross Country season, I run 5ks and half marathons. I am a team leader and strive to be one of the hardest working runners you’ll find.
I want to attend a college where I can pursue a major in marketing and also run. I am open to all options and want to ultimately find the right college match at the highest level of competition possible. I hope to become a great role model to all my peers and make my parents proud.
