My name is Lucas Arps. I am currently a Junior at Fremont Senior High School in Fremont, NE. I would like nothing more than to run on a track and field team in college. I have a learning disability called dyslexia that makes school an extreme struggle for me. Track and field has provided an opportunity for me to achieve success. I am a very hard worker in practice. I strive to be the first one to practice and the last one to leave. Even in the offseason, I do as much conditioning as possible to stay in shape and improve myself. I enjoy my individual events a great deal but find that I get a greater reward from running on the relays.
I believe that I would be an asset to a track and field program for many reasons. My hard work and dedication to my sport and my team is displayed each time I go to the track. I recognize others accomplishments as well as my own. I support and encourage all members of my team no matter what event they are in. When someone is facing a challenge on the team, I am always there to help and encourage, whether the challenge is on or off the track. I truly see my teammates as family.
