Jacob Wertz '23 Recruiting Profile

Ever since elementary school, I've had a love of running, but I never took it seriously until I got into high school. I developed a very specific love for track during my freshmen year, and I've been hooked on it ever since.

The competitive nature of the sport drives me to push myself in practice and in meets. I give everything I have because I know it will allow me to run better and better as each day goes on.  I also rely on the encouragement/intensity that my teammates and coaches bring. I believe a big part of track is your teammates, and I've had the fortune to make bonds that will hopefully last a lifetime. 

Off the track, I work really hard to be successful in the classroom as well. I have made high honor roll every year with a GPA of 3.9, and I'm also an active member of our National Honor Society. I also enjoy volunteering for opportunities through my church and school. 

I hope to find a college team that is very close, and easy to build relationships within, but pushes me to set high goals for myself. I also look for colleges that provide opportunities within the medical field when it comes to education.
