Personal Statement
I have competed in track for several years, but only gotten serious about my goals in it over the past summer. The change came through a disappointing sophomore year made worse by two injuries (hip flexor, hamstring). Despite this I am grateful for my sophomore season and for my injuries. Because of these I have a new drive, a new passion to push through, I know what it feels like to fall down and to have to grind it out until I can stand again and to achieve my goals no matter how out of reach they seem. This summer I have become a completely different force. Everything I do is focused towards being the best I can be, and I fully believe that I can be great. I can't predict what will happen this season, but I can assure you that I have been grinding everyday: getting up early before school or work, reading articles upon articles and watching hours of videos on running technique and training methods, doing everything I can to fulfill my potential. A potential, I believe that can and will boost any team I am a part of. For me, track and field is more than a sport, it is a way of life. It affects what I eat, when I sleep, and what I do. Respectfully keep me in mind and allow me to prove to you why I deserve a spot on your team. If I am given that spot, I promise you, no matter what obstacles get thrown in my way, I will continue to strive: to make me better, the team better, and to make your college better.
