Personal Statement
Coming into my freshmen year I thought I would never be a varsity athlete especially in the elite running programs my school has. Overtime, through the hard workout days and the long team talks. I knew I needed to step up, so I did. Our Cross country Team was able to almost qualify for the state meet, which only 1 team before has done before. Sadly, we came up short by one place. As a freshmen on a upper class-man dominated team, I was able to adapt to the way my teammates were like and also found the keys to success by pushing myself to run alongside them in practice. When we came in 7th we all had a bitter but sweet taste in our mouths. As the only freshmen there I saw the look in everyone's eyes, all of them were tearing up. I never wanted to see my teammates like that, so I vowed to myself to train hard so I never witness that sight again. I'll do anything for my team and I to have success.
As Indoor track came in season, i put everything I had towards school and track. Devoting my life to the both of them. I was able to accomplish high honor roll that season and also able to compete in the state meet. I see doing sports and maintaining a high gpa as a mental battle, just like a race. Your body will give up on you and tell you its tired and to stop, but its up to you to fight through that pain and keep moving forward. I am now able to find a balance between track and academics since I've also received high honor roll for my 2,3,and 4 marking periods.
