When I was in eighth grade I started track at a small school. I was one of the top athletes in my division. Then I graduated and moved on to compete in track at a division one high school. My first year coming in I didn’t do too well. I looked at some of the seniors and wanted to be just as good as them someday. I started training outside of school. When my sophomore year came I was an average athlete, but still not as good as the kids I looked up to. I started working again, only this time I was training even harder. When I came back my junior year, I looked at my stats and it turned out that I was better than the kids I used to look up to. I am continuing to workout to get better, but this time I am pushing myself to not only be better, but to be a role model for the kids that come after me and look up to me.
This summer I was invited to run on the Gazelles. A club team that is coached by Randell Cunningham. Coach Cunningham has two athletes competing at the summer Olympics this year. With his help I'm sure I'll able to improve as an athlete.
I am looking forward to being a senior next year and being not just the top athlete in my school, but one of the top athletes in the state. I know that I am going to have to continue training at a high level of intensity, but it is something I am excited to do.
