I would be a great asset to any team because I bring a great amount of energy and intensity to practices and meets, mainly because I love the sport of Track and Field. The reason why I love Track and Field so much is because the sport demands a great deal of personal responsibility, which is due to the fact that only one person can participate in particular event (except relays). Track is a team sport, but requires the success of individuals in order for the team to excel as a whole. The time one spends working out in the weight room and perfecting techniques is directly proportional to one's success at the sport. The sense of satisfaction I get when I surpass my previous goals and distances is what I love most. It shows me that I've gotten better and that my hard work has not gone in vein. I would give any track team a great chance to win because I know what it takes to win a championship. Last season, my school's track team became Division 4B Champions. We achieved this goal not because we were the best natural athletes, but because we outworked our opponents. At the beginning of the season the team, including myself, was in no position to make a run at the division title. However, as time went on, the team progressed and got better with every practice and was finally rewarded for it at the end of the season.
I believe that I have a lot more to offer to any school that accepts me in comparison to other athletes. I bring a unique and versatile perspective to any school that I am attending. I have been a two way starter on the Varsity Football Team, Captain of the Track team, as well as All-County, Captain of the Chess Team, first chair clarinet for the past two years, and have also gotten various lead roles in my schools Oyster Bay Theater Arts performances. I was first chair and a soloist when my band performed at Carnegie Hall and have sung various duets and songs on The Oyster Bay High School theater stage as well. I am also proud that I received a 98 out of 100 on my NYSSMA performance for the clarinet am also an officer in the Tri-M Honor Society. I have taken the most rigorous course schedule possible which shows colleges that I am fully capable of doing all of these things on top of taking hard classes and performing at a high level in the classroom. I have made the Principal's Honor Roll for every quarter but one in my high school career and have also never cut a class in my life. I am a team player who is enthusiastic, ambitious, and ready to do what it takes to excel at the college level.
