Personal Statement
My goal is to become one of the top NCAA distance runners of my time and possibly grasp an opportunity at running professionally. Not only do I want to be a good runner individually, I want the entire team to do just as well. There's no pride in glory if you're the only one that can bask in it. I set up groups of people who want to run throughout the year for anyone who wants to run and do well in the up coming season. Since we don't have team captains, I was a team leader for our track team this year and one of the few juniors to be awarded MVP for qualifying for sectionals in the 3000m steeplechase and 4x800m relay. For the 2014 cross country I was voted sports embassador of the team (like a third party captain). This past summer I also did the Manitou Incline just outside of Colorado Springs in 30:35 for my first time being at altitude. I am a member of the National Honor Society and Odyssey of the Mind programs in my school, have a membership in the National Society of High School Scholars, and volunteer for the American Red Cross and occasionally the Lion's Club over the summer.
