My name is Jonathan Hutnyan and I am currently a senior at Canfield High School. I am a distance runner who wants to pursue a collegiate running career. I am 5’10” and weigh 145 pounds. I have been competitively running for the past six years of my life. Ever since I started this sport in seventh grade I knew I wanted to become a collegiate athlete in it, and I have the drive to make this dream come true. I have been a member of the varsity track team for the past three years and will be again for my senior season. Through my high school years I have received a number of awards for my hard work and dedication to the sport: Named Top Freshman of the Year in track, named to the 1st Team All Conference twice in track and once in cross country, part of two school record breaking relays (the 4x800 and 4x1600), and two time Team MVP of the cross country team. During my junior year I qualified for the 2011 Indoor Ohio High School State Championships where I placed 6th in the 800 meter. My fastest times are as follows: 3200 meters- 10:06, 1600 meters- 4:34, 800 meters- 1:58, 5k (XC) - 16:44. I am an extremely dedicated student athlete who is looking for a school that has a dedicated coach as well as dedicated athletes. I am not afraid of hard work so being able to come in train at a high level is important to me, as well as get a proper education. There are many things I can offer to a program, aside from my will to work hard; I can be a leader, a teammate, a friend, a study partner, and much more. I am open to attending a college in any geographic region as well as attending a Christian or Military school. As far as academics go I am a High Honor Roll student and hold a 3.4 GPA with a 27 on my ACT. I am an appointed member of the Student Senate at my high school as well. In college I plan to pursue a degree in either business or criminal justice. My goals for post high school running is to compete at the highest possible level I am capable of at a university, make a lasting impact on my team, and push myself to run fast times that can not only help myself as competitor but more importantly my school as a team at meets.
