Personal Statement

My collegiate goals are to be the best student athlete I can be. I have a strong desire to compete and excel in track at the college level. I will bring with me the ability to compete in any number of events. I currently concentrate on the hurdles, both 110m high and 300m intermediate. I am also going to run the 400M and am requesting that I be allowed to try the 800M as well. At my coach's request, I am long jumping this year for the first time since 6th grade. I believe that my ability and willingness to compete in any number of events separates me from other athletes.
As far as my character goes, I try to be a well rounded individual who appreciates all that has been given to me. I actively volunteer in several organizations in my community.  They include but are not limited to the following:
Labre: On Sunday evenings, we go out and find homeless people in the streets where they live; under bridges, inside abandoned buildings, anywhere but in homeless shelters. These are the neediest of the needy. We try to address their most basic needs of food, clothing, and toiletries.
St. Joseph of Arimathea Pallbearers Society:  I volunteer as a pall bearer for people who for various reasons do not have enough family or friends left to serve in that capacity.
The Breakfast Club: Founding member of a club that trains with autistic and special needs children. One goal is for them to compete in an organized 5K race as well as encouraging their development of social skills and self confidence.
When it comes to academics, one thing I know is that I work hard and earn my grades. I am not a procrastinator and am highly self disciplined.  I do not have to be told to do something. For these reasons, I'lI anticipate the transitions from high school to college to be a relatively smooth one.

NCSA COLLEGE RECRUITING®

NCSA College Recruiting® (NCSA) is the nation’s leading collegiate recruiting source for more than 500,000 student-athletes and 42,000 college coaches. By taking advantage of this extensive network, more than 92 percent of NCSA verified athletes play at the college level. The network is available to high school student-athletes around the country through valued relationships with the NFLPA, FBU, NFCA and SPIRE. Each year, NCSA educates over 4 million athletes and their parents about the recruiting process through resources on its website, presentations of the critically-acclaimed seminar College Recruiting Simplified, and with Athletes Wanted, the book written by NCSA founder Chris Krause.
