Personal Statement
Originally, track was just something I loved to do. It was a hobby that I had great passion for. However that all changed my Sophomore year. I made an incredible jump in my performances and made a bit of a name for myself, but did not truly feel like I was something special until I qualified for the 2012 USATF National Junior Olympics in both hurdles. I ended up placing 4th in the 400 meter hurdles. As soon as I realized what great potential I had, I decided to completely dedicate myself to track by dropping football and getting a trainer. Now track is just about everything to me and has greater passion and dedication than I had ever given it before.
My greatest dream would be to represent the USA on the Olympic Track and Field Team. However that is a dream and so I will focus on my current goals for now. My nearest goal is to have a successful Senior year academically and a very successful track season. The main goal for my upcoming track season for my senior year is to defend my State Title in the 300 meter hurdles and to place better in the 110 meter hurdles. I hope to get into a good college which has a astronomy program or a good physics program. I would like to go to a college with a strong track program but am also open to going a school of any level track program offering a scholarship. I am aspiring to become an astronomer involved in exoplanet research, that is the study and discovering of planets outside our solar system and even our galaxy. I hope to become a good father and husband but do not want to only do things for my family. I want to help motivate kids to get more involved and committed to track and field like so many of my coaches have done over the years.
