Adam Erickson '16 Recruiting Profile

Hello Coach,
I am a senior at Jerome High School in Dublin Ohio with a passion for education and running. During my freshman year of high school, I decided to join the track team, and I quickly found out that I enjoy pushing my limits and seeing my times improve.  As a freshman I earned a varsity letter in the 100 meter dash. I was very proud of this accomplishment and wanted to keep pushing myself all year to see how far I could improve. I joined the cross country team in the fall, initially in order to stay in shape. I started the cross country season with a 16:30 in our 2 mile time trials (equivalent to a 26:24 min / 5K) and by the end of the season I had improved to an 18:06 / 5K at our conference meet. With this 5K time I was able to earn a varsity letter in cross country. Having experiencing both sprints and distance runs I found that I enjoy the challenge of distance over sprints.  I have continued to run both track and cross country, although for track I have migrated to middle distance (400 to 1600 meters).  My goal this season in cross country is to break 16:30 / 5K and for track is to break 1:58 for 800 meters, as well as running in the low 50's in the 400, and 4:30's in the mile. As I transition to college I am looking for a university that meets my educational needs, in addition to a track and cross country program that will help me reach my true potential. I feel that it is important to mention that through running, I have built up mental toughness that sets me apart from my peers, as well as a strong desire to improve and not back away from competing with other top notch athletes. I look forward to hearing from you and to learn more about your school and running program.
