Personal Statement
Hello, my name is Colin Theis and I am currently attending Buckeye High School in Medina,OH. At this time I am 5'8" and 135 lbs. and in my senior year. I came into the sport of running at a very young age because of my father. I started running around the age of eight and my dad saw potential in me. By the time I was 10 I was beating him consistently in 5K races. I have continued to improve since then improving to the point of a 6th place finish in the OHSAA Division II State XC Finals as a Junior. I then backed that up with a 15:49 PR at the Nike XC Regional race in Terre Haute, finishing 45th. This senior season my goal is the be the Division II XC State Champion.
I would like to continue running in college because it has taught me self-discipline and many other great values that can only be learned through athletics. I also enjoy running as a whole and would not like to give it up because it has been a huge part of my life for so long. You will also see that I am a very competitive runner that does not take defeat easily. What I want to study in college is undecided at this time but I am leaning towards the sciences. I am a very bright and knowledgable student and would be a great asset to you team and college.
