Personal Statement
“You aren’t the fastest, but, you have the will to fight.” -my high school track coach.
In 2019, a classmate as well as a track teammate was in a car accident that changed not only his life, but everyone he knew as well. He was diagnosed with Traumatic Brain Injury and will never be allowed to compete in contact sports again. I did the only thing I could think of, and I dedicated my season to him as a sprinter and the anchor of our 4x400m relay. Our 4x400m relay team won the overall district track meet that year, PRing by over 10 seconds from prelims. As the anchor, I passed three people in the final 200m of that race. The reason? The teammate had been released from the hospital and came to watch us run.
