Qualifying for States indoor as a Junior was a memorable highlight in my high school career. However, reaching that goal wasn’t easy to achieve. When I was introduced to track in 7th grade, I was one of the slowest sprinters and worst jumpers on the team. After my first season, I knew if I wanted to be successful, much more work would be needed. Throughout the rest of middle school and high school, I began progressing and never failed to work hard. I started doing actual lifting and strength training after my freshmen year of high school, which was also when I became a part of an AAU club team. After my high school practices, I would head straight to the gym or back on the track to complete another workout. I went to two different track camps to gain more knowledge to improve over the summer. With my hard work ethic and dedication on and off the track, my teammates and others looked at me as their leader and I made sure to fulfill my duty in that role.
At whatever institution I plan to attend, the area of study I want to pursue in is within the field of Engineering. Throughout high school, I have taken Engineering-related courses which has furthered my interest towards the field. Wherever I attend. I promise to maintain my hard work ethic and leadership roles in the classroom and on the track to benefit myself along with my teammates and classmates. My ultimate goal is not only to exceed my individual capabilities, but to strengthen the core of the team by motivating my teammates to go beyond their limits since I apply the same concept on my high school and club team. As a Captain of my high school team, I have the potential to lead the team and understand what needs to be done in order to create a positive impact on whatever college I attend.
