Personal Statement
My love of running started when I placed 3rd at a local 5K race at age 10. I started running cross country in middle school, where I still hold the mile record. I was ranked as a freshman in the state of Tennessee, and I have been on the varsity cross country team all 4 years of high school.
My work ethic is strong. I broke my leg my freshman year and missed running track that spring. I was in a cast for 2 months and then a boot afterwards. I missed critical training that summer but once my doctor released me to start training, I worked hard & persevered as I wanted to maintain my varsity spot on the roster.
My collegiate running goals would be to become captain of the team, be on the all-conference team, and continue to break my PR each year running. I'm interested in being a leader at the college I attend. Currently I am involved in many aspects of leadership at my high school. I have been the captain of my Cross Country team the past 2 years and Track this year, Vice President of the Class of 2018 for three straight years, FCA President, Student Section leader, Student Ambassador, Student Ministry leadership team at my church, and a member of National Honors Society.
Along with contributing my running times, I will provide leadership and help to build unity among the team while I am there. I will work hard, I am positive & trustworthy, and I want to succeed. I believe that's what sets me apart from another athlete.
