Personal Statement
My hope is to be able to run track in college to build relationships within a team environment and work toward becoming a strong athlete as well as being exposed to a challenging academic curriculum that will prepare me for a future that includes medical school or a career in science. What makes me a excellent candidate for a team is that I have grown up in a blended family with nine children (four boys and five girls) which gives me the opportunity to have a part in a family environment where everyone has a voice and you have to work together to get things done. I am the oldest child and will be a senior in high school this coming year. My goal as an older brother is to give my sisters a positive role model and to be the best big brother possible. I have spent the last two summers working at a summer sleep away camp helping with young boys and girls in sports and activities and being apart of the " work crew" to manage the kitchen cleaning as well as overall camp maintenance. This coming September I will be a part of a service group called Team Hope and our goal is to provide stoves and medical care for those in impoverished areas of Guatemala who suffer from eye complications due to using open fires in their homes with no ventilation.
