Personal Statement
Hi my name is Daniel Mitre but I prefer to go by Daniel Howell, I was born in El Paso and have lived in Texas all of my life.
In elementary school I was able to get my first taste of competition racing BMX. My second year of racing I ended the season at number six in the state.
In middle school I was introduced to both football and track. In middle school is where I found out I was a sprinter and 100m to 400m to include relays (4x100m and 4x400m). Both my seventh and eighth grade years we were the district champions.
Currently I attend Leander High School and am entering my sophomore year. While I still play football and run track I have come to realize track is the sport for me. My freshman year we were the district champions. I also began running club track as a sprinter in the 100m dash, 200m dash as well as the 4x100m relay and the 4x400m relay for the Leander Spartans in the Men’s 15-16 Division. During my first year of club track I was able to become a 2018 Jr Olympian in the 200m dash and both relays.
I love to work hard every day pushing myself to be the best person possible. My ultimate goal is to run track for a college while working to obtain a degree that will allow me to continue to work in sports with athletes. While I am open to any college I want to make sure degree programs in nutrition or kinesiology are offered. Also, not only does the school need to be a good fit for me I need to be a good fit for the school as well.
