Personal Statement
I started taking track seriously my sophomore year, before then I was a baseball player. Spring of my sophomore year, I worked very hard on my jumping and running. I had a total of 3 feet gained throughout my season. I went from 18 feet to 21 feet in just 2 months of hard work. I would go to the track everyday and work on my form. Over the summer, I joined a club team. I believe it improved my speed a lot. During the off season, I hit the weight room almost everyday. I started paying attention to my nutrition to add muscle and be stronger. As indoor season approached, I started getting back in the rhythm of my jumping. My first meet was Texas A&M High School Indoor and I PR'd by 2 feet. I was able to self teach myself everything about long jump, and I believe a good coach will help push me to new maxes. My goal this year is to break my school long jump record. Right now I am 2 inches behind it. A big goal I have is to earn scholarship money to run/jump at a good college.
