Personal Statement
God is the reason I have the ability to run and He is my only option of success in life, nothing else gives me peace as He does. I run to His glory always.
I love running and have enjoyed it ever since elementary school- unlike the typical notion that it is a punishment I enjoy it everytime I go out, even for practice. I did not however become truly involved in running until middle school when I joined the track team and excelled. Once in highschool I joined the varsity team as a freshman in cross-country and track and excelled there. Last year as a sophmore I retained my varsity spot and advanced past district in XC and past district and area in track.
My progression as a runner has been not only been evident in my times but also in my running form and mental capabilities. I dropped my mile time freshman year to sophmore year by 17 seconds (4:48 to 4:31), which is only an example of how much I can do when the training and mindset are in place.
In school I desire to do the best I can in every subject and every SAT test. I am currently in the top 10% and I have a 4.0 GPA.
Lastly, just as I have done in high school I know I will do in college and that is that I will not only set goals but I will put in the work on and off the field to reach those goals. I am a team player- leading in cross-country as a runner but also by Christian example- humbly leading as one who's abilities are not of myself but from Him.
I look forward to college as I prepare not only in running (setting high goals), but more importantly, as I prepare in school and walk in God's way, not mine.
