I believe that in order to overcome difficulties and truly rise to the top at the collegiate level, student athletes should strive to maintain a healthy balance between sports and academics. Having the opportunity to run competitively in college is a common goal that many high school runners, including myself, share. However it is important to remember that though there are many others who are dedicated to this constant pursuit, one must focus in the classroom just as they do on the track. Training and competing in Cross Country and Track have become part of who I am. The relationships I have built with my teammates, as well as my opponents, have taught me that building off one another can ultimately lead to one's success. In addition, running has taught me to give my all and fully commit myself to any task at hand. I strive to be a leader and serve by example both on the track and in the classroom/community in hope that being good at one will benefit me at the other.
