Personal Statement
My name is Jose Garcia and I am a senior at Lytle High School in Lytle Texas. I have always loved to run and my family has always encouraged me to run. I have run and trained with a few current college runners that have graduated from my school, so I have seen what it takes in order to make it to the colligiate level. My coach is the person who drives me to do my absolute best every time I step out on the track. I have literally given blood, sweat, and tears for him. He has gone through the pain of cancer, so every time I feel like giving up I remember that the pain that I feel is nothing compared to the pain he had had to go through. I have qualified to regionals my sophmore and junior year in the 4x400m relay. I was district champion in the 400m my junior year and in the 4x400m relay my sophmore year. I personally think that my best event is the 800m, I have only ran it for one year so I don't have anything significant to show for it yet. My goal for this season is to make it to state in the 800m and run 1:56 or lower. Running is my passion and I want to continue running in college.
