Personal Statement
I am a senior (2013) pole vaulter with a personal record of 14' 6" that I have jumped in 3 meets. I have also cleared 14 in 3 other meets. Unofficially, I have cleared 15' in practice. For the Indoor season, I placed second in Virginia AAA large schools division at 14' 6". After placing second in the state meet, I am looking forward to working hard to become a state champion next year.
I have fully recovered from a stress fracture that occurred at the Penn Relays in late April. I had to withdraw after clearing 13' 9" and ended up placing 13th with the lowest height of my outdoor season. This is why I only have a few early season jumps for the outdoor (2012) season.
I am a long time member of DC Vault pole vault club and am practicing with them several times a week, year round. There are a number of areas in my vaults that I plan to work on and I am looking forward to pushing my personal record higher. My personal goal is to attend a college where I can work hard to recieve an excellent degree as well as maximize my vaulting ability.
I am not entirely sure what I am looking for in a college and am trying to narrow it down. Out of state schools are in considerations as long as the school is the right fit for me. I am not sure what my final major would be, but I am interested in science.
