Personal Statement

Hello,

My name is Lane Mallula, I would like to start off by thanking you for looking at my profile.  In track my strengths are my drive and passion.  I always want to succeed and improve myself every race.  If I happen to have a bad race I will be critical of myself, but not for too long.  I like to think about what I did wrong and how to do better the next time.  Also, I don’t carry the bad race around with me.  I leave it at the finish line so that next race isn't hampered.  This has been a big help in meets with preliminaries and finals.  Next, I enjoy the camaraderie of the sport.  When it comes to a competition it's time to be serious, but at the same time I believe you still need to have fun with the sport.  Before I start a race I wish everyone good luck and when we finish I say "good race".  This has helped me make many friends over the years and helps me be calm and relaxed before the race.  I was appointed team captain this year and look forward to providing leadership to the team.

Finally, I would like to address my academics.  My cumulative GPA is a 2.59 which I am not proud of in any way.  I earned this GPA through my freshman and sophomore year.  At the time I didn't understand the importance of academics and I slacked off.  My junior year I realized the major importance of academics and have strived to improve my grades.  I was much more successful my junior year maintaining around a 3.4.  Although, I have a 2.59 cumulative I do not feel it is a good representation of my academic potential.   My senior year has started off well academically and I intend to finish strong.   Thank you for viewing my profile, and have a nice day.

NCSA COLLEGE RECRUITING®

NCSA College Recruiting® (NCSA) is the nation’s leading collegiate recruiting source for more than 500,000 student-athletes and 42,000 college coaches. By taking advantage of this extensive network, more than 92 percent of NCSA verified athletes play at the college level. The network is available to high school student-athletes around the country through valued relationships with the NFLPA, FBU, NFCA and SPIRE. Each year, NCSA educates over 4 million athletes and their parents about the recruiting process through resources on its website, presentations of the critically-acclaimed seminar College Recruiting Simplified, and with Athletes Wanted, the book written by NCSA founder Chris Krause.
