Personal Statement
In college, I hope to find a program that helps me reach my full potential as a runner and where I can be an active contributor to the team on and off the track. I will put in the work necessary to achieve at the highest level and will put my faith in my coach and myself. My goal for college is to perform to the best of my ability on the track and in the classroom and continue to improve in both.
This year, I have made huge improvements as a runner. I've ran PRs in every event, with 94 seconds in the 5k, 13 seconds in the 1600m, 9 seconds in the 800m, and 4 seconds in the 400m. I have learned that in order to succeed and improve, I need to trust in my coaches, listen to my body, and put in 100% to my training and recovery. As a naive runner during my sophomore year, I neglected these things and ended up watching my team go to state while I sat on the sidelines. This season I have been undefeated in the regular season, leading each race from the gun. With higher caliber and more frequent competition, I will be on track for more huge PRs.
Next year I am working to win my conference in XC and to place high in state. In track my goals are to go under 0:50, 1:52, 4:12, and 9:10 and to win state at the 800m.
