Personal Statement

Hello! My name is Jack Chard and I am a junior at Kettle Moraine High School in Wales, Wisconsin. I started running in the sixth grade when by a fluke I ended up tagging along with my sister to her track practice.  The coach asked me to join in, and after that, I was hooked on running and competing. Watching others go neck and neck down the straight away give me a thrill and adrenaline rush like you wouldn’t believe.I love it!!!

The 2016 season was a successful year to say the least. Not only was it enjoyable winning on the track, it was also fun bonding with teammates and coaches. The bond we shared as a team this last year led to big success as our team was runner up in the state championships and shocked many with some outstanding performances along the way. I mainly ran the 4x200, 4x400 relay and the open 400 throughout most of the season.  As the season progressed, my times continued to get better and better. Our 4x200 relay just missed qualifying for state, and my fastest split time was 22.3 running as the first leg.  Our 4x400 qualified for state and was seeded third overall.  We placed first in our heat during preliminaries and finished seventh in the finals with my split being a 49.7.  I was the first leg and performed the first exchange in this intense race.  Although we did not make the podium for the 4x400, our team looks to be at the top of the podium this upcoming year.  This was an awesome experience, and I am driven to continue to make this journey for my last two years of high school track.

I think I would make a good candidate for your team because I am a very hard-working, versatile track athlete and a good student. I can run the 55,100, 200, 400, 4x100, 4x200, 4x400, intermediate hurdles and long jump.  I work every single day to improve as an athlete.  I maintain a healthy diet and regard sleep as a top priority.  Off the track, I am a good student and work very hard to achieve and maintain good grades.  I have made the Honor Roll every quarter since my Freshman year while playing multiple sports and participating in various clubs.  I was taught very good study skills in my elementary years and have carried those on and maintain them in high school.  A top priority is to maintain discipline and balance in my life.

In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with friends and family. My faith is very important to me as well, and I try to take every opportunity I can to serve God by serving those around me and volunteer when I am able.
