Russell Johns '15 Recruiting Profile

My name is Russell Johns and I am a 150 lb. out side hitter. I plan on growing more and becoming an even more aggressive player in the next few seasons. I played for Aspire Volleyball Club in Tempe Arizona and my most recent season in 2013-2014 was under coach Clay Webb on the 17U team which finished 17th overall in the 18U bracket at the regional championship last year. This year I am with Club One Volleyball 18 platinum. School wise I am a junior year varsity captain planning to return under the coaching of Ms. Brynne Evans. I enjoy offense and have a habit of getting either around or through the block. But when I am not at the net hitting, I capitalize on my scrappy defensive abilities by flying across the court and giving everything I have just to keep the ball in play.My collegiate goals off the court are to graduate with my degree in international business and possibly a minor or certificate in sports management. On the court my goals are to get on the court wearing a team jersey first! Then to provide my team with the dedication, cooperation, and leadership that is demanded from all volleyball players regardless of position.

What makes me different from other possible recruits is that I am coachable, a quick learning athlete, and my level of determination is off the charts. If I don't achieve whatever I set out to do the first time, I do not quit until I have the task down to a science. Volleyball is a more than a hobby to me. It is a passion and I hope to continue it into my collegiate years.
