Berkeley Miesfeld '18 Recruiting Profile

Coach,

I am an athletic 6' 5" left-handed setter (class of 2018) with a unique background.  

I come from a family full of collegiate athletes that have stressed the importance of dedication, hard work, motivation, and character.  My grandfather Thomas Chase played football at Stanford.  My brother Vail is a NCAA, Southern Athletic Association All-Conference and Academic All-American nominee, starting cornerback in Texas.  Most importantly, my mother Corinne Chase Miesfeld was a decorated and accomplished Division I setter for Montana State University.  My mother began training me from a very early age on proper techniques, game strategy, and the volleyball mental nuances necessary to be an extraordinary player.

Beside the fact that I am a smart leader on the court with a 4.88 GPA (Valedictorian!) and composite superscore of 35 on the ACT (SAT equivalent of 1570 - 1590), I believe the fact that I am left-handed provides me with a distinct advantage.  I am able to use my dominant left hand to unleash an unanticipated and ferocious attack.  This skill combined with my quickness and innate timing/ability to block makes me an extremely valuable weapon.  I have used my unique abilities as a setter and opposite to lead my club team, (Coast Volleyball Club playing in the very competitive Southern California Volleyball Association) to one of the few qualifying Open Division invitational bids to the both the 2017 (eleventh place national finish in Columbus, Ohio.) and 2018 USA National Championships (7/2-7/9/18 Phoenix, AZ).
