Personal Statement
I have a passion for the sport of volleyball. I have not been playing the sport for very long, but I have already experienced a relatively high level of success, both individually and collectively with the teams on which I’ve played. I’ve been a team captain, been voted team MVP by my teammates, earned all-conference honors, and helped my teams make playoffs, always playing on teams that have won more often than they have lost. And even though I feel like I’m a good player now, I know that my lack of experience leaves me room to improve, which I will because of my strong desire to get better. I am usually the first person on the court at practice and the last to leave when done. I’m also very competitive. I hate losing more than I love winning. I think I’m a very good teammate, as well.
I am a good student. I have struggled at times with certain subjects, but I work hard to overcome any lack of understanding and have generally gotten good grades throughout high school, often earning academic awards. I look forward to entering college, where I can focus my studies toward learning a trade that I am equally as passionate about as volleyball. I am looking for a life after college where I can help others while staying involved in sports, so I would like to become an athletic trainer. To do that, I am interested in one of the following majors: athletic training, exercise science, kinesiology, or sports biology.
I hope that I can use my skill and passion for the sport of volleyball to become a student-athlete in college. It would feel very empty if I weren’t able to continue to play this sport that I love. I am interested only in going to the college that gives me the opportunity to play volleyball at the highest possible competitive level and where I can pursue my objective to become an athletic trainer.
Thank you for taking the time to look through my profile.
