Once I discovered volleyball,I was hooked. Although I didn't drive, I bummed rides from friends & parents, took the bus, ran, or uberred to various volleyball clubs to get as many days on the court and reps in. My parents thought volleyball maybe a passing phase and if I really wanted it, I'd make it work. I love volleyball and am driven to play in college. I am determined and have a very strong work ethic. During my summer between grade 10 & 11, I worked on average 43 hours per week at as a lifeguard & swim instructor. It was to afford the uber rides & gas money to get to the various VB clubs. I practiced about 5 days a week sometimes more for a few hours a night. I take this "work hard/play harder" attitude very seriously and apply it to school, work, and sports. My mindset while I play is I play each ball like it is the only ball, whether it is the first or the last of a tournament day after playing 12 sets...things I am thinking between sets..."let the past be the past"..."Next Ball", "shake it off", "LETs GOOOO". That said, I review my videos to analyze what went right and wrong. I look to various coaches for recommendations on what I can tweak to make better. I am very coachable and believe every coach can teach you something. If you ask their advice, you owe them the work to improve based on their recommendations. This same work hard attitude is applied to my academics too. All I said above about being coachable is applied to school also.
