Personal Statement
The season I fell in love with volleyball, my team lost every game. There was no glorious championship story, there was just good coaching, my team, and the game of volleyball. I believe this affinity happened because growth in character is an important part of my journey as an athlete. Playing volleyball that season taught me to be there for the team, to work hard for all of us, and to always be positive, lifting people up. I learned so much, as a player and as a person, the lessons and skills needed on and off the court.
I have had many mentors, positive coaches, and experiences through the years that has helped to shape my attitude and character. At Ku'ikahi Volleyball Club, I have learned that the team will not succeed unless everyone does their part, to stay disciplined, and to play as a team rather than as individuals.
My goal is to remain in the sports field and to study Kinesiology to become an athletic trainer. I know that in college I will need to be a student athlete and that discipline applies to my studies as well. I believe, though I have much to learn, that I have a good work ethic and the drive to get better. I am a coachable athlete, and am willing to do what it takes to make an impact for my team.
