Personal Statement
My sister and I have grown up in a ball cart. My parents are both volleyball coaches and have been a huge influence in my level of play. My mother received a full volleyball scholarship to play as an outside at Eastern Washington University. My sister is currently on a full volleyball scholarship at Eastern Washington University as a setter/outside. She earned All tournament honors her freshman year, as a 5-9 opposite, at the USC tournament. I started playing club volleyball when I was 8 years old. I was fortunate to earn a few all tournament honors along the way. My love for the game has grown with every year that I have played. For the last 3 years I have been playing on the Spokane Boys U18 team. I have been a six rotation player. The first two years as an opposite, and last year as an outside. I am also a setter, but my team needed my ball control and ability to terminate as an opposite and outside hitter.
As a 6'3 150 lb. athlete, I can contribute solid ball control in my defense skills and in serve receive. I have also developed a variety of offensive shots, as well as, the ability to terminate. I have really focused on developing my entire game and truly believe I can be an asset in any position.
Academically,. I have taken high level classes to help better myself for college. My favorite classes include history, science, math, and of coarse any PE classes. I currently have a 3.156 GPA, and I am working to improve that next year.
Volleyball life in Idaho is challenging. Boys volleyball is not offered in the high schools. I have to travel to Spokane, Washington for any club or sand opportunities. I have taken it upon myself to find more options to improve my game. Last year, I practiced with the girls Varsity team at my high school. This allowed me to work on my ball control and attack placement. I also play in adult tournaments and leagues.
Some of my other interests are bowling, hunting, hiking, wake boarding, binge watching Netflix, and hanging out with friends and family. I have also participated in basketball, football, and soccer in high school. I am now focusing on volleyball and track..
As a student athlete, I would like to continue my education while competing in the sport I love. I am not afraid to work both on the court and in the classroom. I set the bar high for myself and I am willing to do whatever it takes to achieve those goals.
