Personal Statement
I've been exposed to athletics my entire life through my parents and family whose love of all sports, is contagious. I came late to volleyball on a competitive level. I didn't play club volleyball until my middle school years. Currently, there are no opportunities to play boys volleyball at the high school level in Central, IL, yet this doesn't stop me from seeking out opportunities here in my hometown of Champaign, or by driving 2 hours to the Chicago area to improve my skills by playing on the club team, Uno. Even though I love volleyball, I am a student athlete. I know that education is essential to my future success. My biggest asset is that I am a quick learner both athletically and scholastically. Volleyball is a sport of split second decisions, forcing the player to analyze their options and pick the best solution for the situation. I apply this theory towards my life choices by both considering all my options and determining the most ideal, educated solutions. I am passionate about life, about education and especially about playing volleyball on a team and being an integral part of that teams' success.
