Personal Statement
My name is Evan Walsh, I am a 16 year old Junior at Maine South High School in Park Ridge, Illinois. I have been playing volleyball for as long I can remember. I started last year on varsity as a sophomore and ended up winning regionals, beating the 5th ranked team in the state. Freshman and sophomore year I played 3 sports but now in hopes of realizing my dream to play collegiate volleyball, I have chosen to focus on only volleyball. I was recently accepted to play on the A1 High Performance Youth Boys Volleyball team. As part of the program, I will be going down to Tulsa to train with the program. My current club team, Adversity 17 purple, earned a bid to the national championship in Huston. I have worked with a professional middle, named Kyle Masterson who plays in Denmark. He has helped me improve my game and play at a higher level. I am attending my 3rd year of club volleyball at Adversity in Vernon Hills. My goals are to become all conference for my high school team and earn the privilege to play volleyball in college. I go to the same high school as Tom Hoff did, it is inspirational to me to go through the same program as he once did. In the current high school I was awarded with all tournament honors, while still being only a junior, playing in the Warren tournament. I have a very high work ethic and I am willing to push myself as hard as I can every practice and every game. I aspire to get the best grades I can in school and hopefully get a 30+ on my ACT. I am trained to play all of the front row positions, but I am primarily a middle hitter. I am prepared to put 110% effort into my volleyball and academic college career.
