Personal Statement
Starting as a sophomore on the Naperville Central Volleyball Men’s volleyball team has been the highlight of my high school career. It has been a great opportunity to learn from seniors like John Davis, Tim Folliard, and Felix Egharevba while improving my skills. This year has helped me grow as an athlete while focusing my efforts to be become a better all around player. Winning the Marist Invitational tournament this year taught me the values of teamwork, communication, and trust and furthered my desire to win.
Another big accomplishment would be making Sports Performance Volleyball Club’s second team for the 16's age group, with only having played freshman volleyball prior to trying out. As a member of this team I improved my playing and leadership skills and learned to persevere through challenging times. An example of this would be refocusing my efforts towards being a leader and teammate after our team did not win a bid to the Open Division at the Chicago qualifier. We went on later and were able to secure a bid to the USA Division coming in third place at the St.Louis qualifier. I’m not only looking for a college that will fit my requirements but a college that will challenge me athletically and academically as well. I believe that with still room to improve I will be able to compete at a high level for a college team.
