Personal Statement
My name is Josh Churko and I am an incoming junior in the graduating class of 2023. I started with sports and the love for competition when I was very young and I started playing hockey. Eventually I started playing hockey along with other sports such as baseball, lacrosse, soccer, and golf. But none of them ever really appealed to me as much as volleyball. I love the atmosphere and the competition that comes with it. I think my hand-eye coordination from hockey and baseball really helps with volleyball since I'm mostly a libero and really need fast reflexes and great hand-eye. As well as indoor volleyball I also like beach and grass. During the summers I play as much beach volleyball as I can so I can build up strength and it helps me think more since doubles has a lot of reading the opposing teams body language. I think I am suited for your team because I bring lots of energy and excitement, as well as I am very coachable and want to hear any feedback so I can become better. I also can play other positions if need be. When people ask why I don't just stick as a libero or just a single position in hockey, I tell them, "playing one position is boring, why not play more and have even more fun." I really love volleyball and when I am on the court I feel like I am in my element and I do my very best to never let the ball hit the ground. I think I will bring great value to your volleyball program
