My Name is Ethan Powell, and I have been doubted my entire life. As a African American, as a student, and as an athlete. Before my first year of volleyball, everyone around me told me not to tryout for my JV team because I "wasn't good enough" and I would "be cut from the team." I never let this stop me though, I ignored everything they told me and I made the team. During my JV season, my teammates told me I wasn't good enough and I still played throughout all of that. This year when I tried out for my Varsity team they told me I would be cut and from the team and stay on JV. I persevered throughout it all and now I play for my high school division 1 varsity team.
