Personal Statement
Through my entire sports career since I was young I have been seen by my peers and my coaches as a leader and I have been named captain the last three of my club seasons. My leadership comes from my work ethic and enthusiasm for the game. I lead by example, whether it’s always working my hardest during practice or the energy that I bring to the court while I play, or never giving up no matter the score. My goal for my college athletic career is the same as it is with any other of my seasons. My goal is to win a Championship. I have always believed that volleyball is a sport where you can out practice your opponent. I believe that no matter what team you are a part of, winning is always a possibility if you are willing to put in the work during practice. That's my goal for whatever team I am a part of, to work myself and inspire my team mates to work to a championship by using my competitive nature to try and gain a starting position. It is through that push to be better than my teammates that will make them work harder as well because no one is untouchable. I believe that even if you are not one of the starters on the court, everything the people on the court do is a product of the way they compete against their teammates who are on the bench so without those on the bench to push them, being great can be very difficult. This is something my High School coach taught me and it took losing bad on a big stage to teach me its importance but now it’s something that I use as a mindset. Competition is what makes us great so without people that are willing to work for a spot in that starting lineup to push the starters to reach for a higher level of play it is easier to be content. This is what sets me apart from other athletes. My energy, optimism, and my fire for competition is something that can be the x factor for a team.
