Personal Statement
Playing collegiate volleyball has been a goal of mine since first started playing in the seventh grade. My love of the game can be attributed to the coaches and trainers I’ve worked with over the course of my career, as they taught me to never be complacent and pushed me to be the best player I could be. This mindset brought me to be the player that I am today. I always put in all of my effort, showing my dedication and work ethic, to not only work towards my own success, but my team’s. When I was selected to join the GEVA High Performance team and travel to Florida this past summer, I was able to be exposed to volleyball at a high, competitive level and witness the importance of teamwork first hand.
Volleyball has also taught me to face challenges with confidence and open arms. I have been moved to multiple positions in order to better suit the needs of the team and I have been able to accept these challenges and succeed due to my versatility and determination. Because I enjoy both offensive and defensive elements of the game, I work hard individually to put my team in the best situation I can. My competitive personality shows on the court as I see each match as not only a competition between my team and another, but me and myself, as I push myself to improve each time I step on the court. Whether my team wins or loses, I value each lesson I’ve learned through playing volleyball.
My drive to succeed in both my athletics and academics will allow me to be successful on the collegiate level. My studies have always been my main priority, as my interest in math and business have drawn me to the accounting field for my future studies. I am looking forward to the challenges and opportunities collegiate volleyball will offer me.
