Andrew Luers '17 Recruiting Profile

My dream is to play volleyball at the next level so that I can become the best player that I can be. I hope that by playing at the collegiate level, I will be able to improve my current skills and learn some new skills as well. I would like to be a leader on the team so that I can help motivate my team to be the best. My goal is to be starting setter for my team so that I will be able to experience play at the collegiate level and improve my setting skills immensely.

I believe that I would be a good candidate for any team because I consider myself to be a good leader, teammate and, most importantly, a student athlete. I give 100% effort at every practice and consider myself to be very coachable. I am very athletic so I am able to make big plays and not get tired out on long rallies. I am also quick which allows me to get to a number of balls which is a crucial part of being a setter.

I differ from other recruits because unlike many players, I play volleyball year-round through club, high school and as well as sand doubles during the summer and fall. I ran cross country for three years in high school which has made me very athletic and quick and as a result, an even better setter. My entire family plays volleyball as well, including my parents, siblings, aunts, uncles, over 25 cousins and even my 76 year old grandfather! I take very rigorous classes in school including several AP and Honors classes. I am in the top 15% of my class and have earned honors every quarter since I have started high school.
