Personal Statement
Until shortly before my 16th birthday, I was lazy. There's no other way to put it. As a result, my grades suffered and I didn't maximize my volleyball ability. But on my 16th birthday, that changed. I decided that I wanted to play college volleyball and would do whatever it took to make that happen.
I knew I had to improve my grades and conditioning to play at the collegiate level, so I've focused on those things. It's starting to pay off. I made all A's and B's this past semester for the first time in my life, and I finished the semester with a 3.5 GPA. I've also begun to regularly work out and the changes it has made to my game are already noticeable.
I'm a utility player who played libero, DS, and middle last year, and opposite and setter the year before. I expect to play DS, opposite, and setter this upcoming season. My team is stacked and a top 5 finish in the open division at nationals is a realistic goal. I hope you will come watch us. I promise we won't disappoint. And I hope you will evaluate me because, if you do, you'll see a versatile team player who's barely scratched the surface of his full potential.
