Personal Statement
I'm driven, responsible, hard working and love being part of a team. I'd love the chance to play volleyball at a school that will prepare me well for an advanced degree in chemistry. Here is what my coach as to say about what I can bring to your team:
To Whom it May Concern:
I have known Miles Mottonen since 2011 in the capacity of his high school volleyball coach. We also have a high school club associated with Boys Volleyball as it is not a high school sanctioned sport in the state of Utah. Miles has always been a leader on the team. He has served in various capacities in leadership positions, both on the team and in the club. He has always been willing to take on those responsibilities and has fulfilled them very well. Last year, in spite of being one of the younger players on the 1st team (Varsity), he was elected President of the club by his peers.
Miles has an advanced work ethic. He has always been one of the more dedicated players on the team. Even when he has other sports events he is involved with, he will try to make at least part of our practice so he can participate at a high level in both. He doesn't waste time in practice, getting to work on warm up drills while others are still showing up. He works hard while he is there and doesn't let distractions keep him from focusing on our practice. In fact, he will often try to get boys who ARE distracted back on task.
Miles also manages his time well. He does very well in school as well as participates in interscholastic sports. He keeps a high GPA and lets me know when he has tests and difficult assignments so he can make time for both.
Miles has a natural athletic ability which helps him to learn skills quickly, but his best asset is as a leader on the floor and in the gym. He has received recognition awards all three years he has played, and I'm sure will continue to perform at a high level this upcoming season. It has been a pleasure to coach him.

Chris Peterson
